This is about various types of RoRo ships each with their own purpose and characteristics.
PCC ships
PCC stands for Pure Car Carrier, a type of RoRo freight ship that is exclusively used to transport cars. A Pure Car Carrier (PCC) ship has multiple decks and ramps, allowing vehicles to be driven on and off efficiently.
PTCC ships
PTCC is an abbreviation for Pure Truck & Car Carrier. They resemble PCC ships but are used to transport both trucks and cars as well as other vehicles. And like Pure Car Carrier ships, PTCC ships are also an essential part of the vehicle supply chain.
ConRo ships
A ConRo ship, short for Container Roll-on/Roll-off, is a cross between a container ship and a RoRo ship. These versatile merchant ships are designed to transport both containerized goods and vehicles. ConRo ships have special decks and ramps for vehicles to be driven on and off, as well as traditional cargo holds equipped for stacking containers.
RoLo ships
A RoLo ship, or Roll-on/Lift-off, is a hybrid ship designed to accommodate both roll-on/roll-off cargo, such as vehicles, and lift-on/lift-off cargo, such as containers and heavy equipment. Similar to their counterpart, the ConRo ship, RoLo ships have ramps for vehicles to drive on and off, as well as cranes and other lifting equipment for loading and unloading containerized and non-rolling cargo.
LMSR vessels
LMSR stands for Large, Medium-Speed Roll-on/Roll-off. The majority of LMSR ships are Military Sealift Command (MSC) RoRo freight ships that are either built specifically for military cargo or converted from commercial RoRo ships. They allow for the rapid deployment of heavy equipment and vehicles and are equipped with extensive internal ramps and large cargo decks, so tanks, trucks, and other military vehicles can be driven on and off efficiently.
RoPax ships
RoPax ships is an abbreviation for Roll-on/Roll-off and Passengers and are used to transport wheel-based cargo, and like other RoRo ships, they have ramps for vehicles, but they also carry passengers and have passenger amenities onboard. RoPax ships are often used on short sea routes and represent an efficient and convenient way for travelers to take their cars along on trips.
