You will play an important role in:
As Research Engineer in the Engine Process Development department, your primary responsibility will be the  development of simulation tools to help achieve our ambitious decarbonization targets. The specific team of 6 colleagues was created one year ago, and we have now decided to expand with several more colleagues. The simulation tools cover topics like cycle process analysis, fuel injection, fuel combustion, heat/mechanical losses, scavenging, turbocharging, engine control algorithms and many more which all contribute to the engine’s final efficiency and emission characteristics.

We imagine that you:

  • Will build and support in-house simulation tools to support our product development departments
  • Will seek relevant domain knowledge by active cooperation with our R&D & design departments
  • Will execute and analyze engine tests relevant for validation of sub-models together with colleagues from our instrumentation & measurement department
  • Will contribute to launching new engine technologies

At the start, we expect a period of learning existing simulation tools and getting some knowledge of engine  performance. Relatively quickly, you will take responsibility of sub-models. You will be heavily supported by ‘simulation oriented’ colleagues sharing approaches, calculations and experience. We encourage creativity and provide the freedom to influence content and feature implementation.

What are we looking for:
You’re curious, collaborative, and eager to learn. Ideally, you have:

  • Profound interest in understanding mechanical and thermodynamic systems
  • Ability to convert such understanding to simulation models to be used by you and colleagues
  • Strong in Matlab or Python, and preferably also in C or similar
  • Some knowledge of combustion engines
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Willingness to join engine tests both in CPH and at licensees in Korea, Japan or China

We will be patient in building up the right competencies for the right candidate. Engineering background (mechanical, energy, etc.) is a plus, but your interest and mindset matter most.

Welcome to the Engine Process Development department
We are a growing team of colleagues with various fields of specialization within the R&D Process Development Department. Our main focus areas include:

  • Developing in-house engine performance calculation tools
  • Providing support to colleagues using these tools
  • Playing a governance role in releasing performance products
  • Integration of engine performance and control
