Burned fingers and wasted millions: Danish shipyard says no to new lifeboats

After wasting 3 million DKK on previous tenders, Hvide Sande Shipyard will not be the shipyard delivering the last motorized lifeboats to the Defense, says the director

With those definite words, Carl Erik Kristensen, CEO of Hvide Sande Shipyard, dismisses any idea that his shipyard would bid on the next round of new motorized rescue boats (MRBs) for the Danish coastal rescue service.

The Minister of Community Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Torsten Schack Pedersen (V), announced in December that a contract for the last seven out of 12 MRBs for the coastal rescue service should be concluded in the first quarter of this year. However, they will not be built in Hvide Sande:
