Here is the new CEO of the Danish Maritime Authority

The Minister for Business has appointed the new director for Denmark's top maritime authority – he has no specific maritime experience but brings extensive knowledge of auditing, business policy, and the EU

Brian Adrian Wessel will be the new director of the Danish Maritime Authority.

He will take up the position on January 1, 2025.

The 50-year-old law graduate comes from a role as business legal director at the Ministry of Business.

Wessel has previously been the professional director at FSR - Danish Auditors, bringing extensive business and leadership experience to his new position.

This was announced by the Danish Maritime Authority in a press release.

- I am very pleased that Brian Adrian Wessel has agreed to take on the position as director of the Danish Maritime Authority. With his leadership experience and background, I am confident that he is the right person to continue the important work of the Danish Maritime Authority and help ensure that Denmark maintains its position as one of the world’s leading maritime nations, said Minister for Business, Morten Bødskov.

Wessel’s appointment comes at a time when the maritime industry faces major challenges and opportunities, particularly in green transition and technological development.

- The Danish Maritime Authority plays a crucial role in realizing the ambitions of both the industry and policymakers to simultaneously create growth and drive green transition in the sector, said Brian Adrian Wessel in a press release.

The new director highlights the importance of collaboration with the industry and international partners:

- I am really looking forward to leading the talented leaders and employees of the Danish Maritime Authority and to working closely with the industry in Denmark and our many international maritime partners, Wessel added.
