Captain: "The Russians sabotaged my anchor"

A captain of the infamous Bulgarian bulk carrier 'Vezhen' claims that his anchoring system was sabotaged by Russians during a previous port visit.

The claim follows an incident where the ship possibly damaged an underwater cable between Gotland and Latvia.

Captain Donyo Dachev, responsible for Vezhen, has stated to the Bulgarian media Fakti, that he believes the ship has been the victim of a deliberate act of sabotage.

According to the captain, it is a Russian operation aimed at covering up a real sabotage against the ship's anchoring system.

Dachev claims that there are clear signs that the anchoring system was tampered with, which led to the "unfortunate" incident with the underwater cable.

The accusations of sabotage come at a time of increased tension between Russia and several European countries, where there have been reports of multiple incidents involving ships and underwater infrastructures.

Captain Dachev has emphasized that he and his crew had no intention of damaging the cable and that they have been unjustly accused of an act they had no control over.

He underlines that the crew consists of experienced seamen who always act in accordance with maritime laws and regulations.
