New law may disqualify seafarers from serving

The bill is set to be considered in December

Courts should be able to remove seafarers from their positions if they commit serious crimes related to their work.

This is the essence of a new bill that the Danish Parliament (Folketinget) is set to vote on in December.

The bill aims to modify the penal provisions in the Act on Safety at Sea, allowing for the removal of seafarers from their positions if they are convicted of dangerous criminal acts involving either violence or sexual offenses.
