As our current General Manager is returning to Denmark, we are looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially minded successor. You will be head of our Korean organization and will play a key role in strengthening the connection between our Danish headquarter and our production subsidiary in Yangsan, South Korea.

The Position:
This position is a unique opportunity to lead a company with significant growth ambitions. To strengthen and develop a local organization aligned with our company business strategy. And to drive the operational setup that will support the offshoring of key production/assembly activities to Korea.

Responsibilities:
As General Manager, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy while working closely with senior leadership in Denmark ensuring effective coordination and cooperation. You will be responsible for strengthening strategic partnerships across Korea and Asia, and ensuring that our values, culture, and customer focus remain at the heart of everything we do.

Thus, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manage daily staff operations, including supervision, development, employee retention and recruitment.
  • Further develop an efficient and robust organization, today consisting of around 30 employees.
  • Execute and develop the strategy and business plans for FuelTech Korea in collaboration with HQ Denmark.
  • Responsible for financial and legal areas in FuelTech Korea.
  • Ensure compliance with local/regional/national laws and regulations in Korea.
  • Manage daily staff operations, including supervision, development, employee retention, and recruitment.
  • Manage delivery performance and maintain a high-quality level on products to customers.
  • Create a network with relevant stakeholders in the maritime industry and foreign companies with similar interests in Korea.

As the Cross-Cultural Ambassador, you will be responsible for facilitating effective communication, understanding, and collaboration between Denmark and Korea. You will act as a bridge builder between the cultural differences and provide insights and guidance to promote unity and create a collaborative work environment. 

Primary work tasks:

  • Handle financial tasks and reporting to HQ Denmark, ensuring accurate and timely financial information and contributing to the budget process at FuelTech A/S.
  • Manage the operation budget for FuelTech Korea, ensuring effective cost control and resource allocation.
  • Ensure stable and efficient daily operations, identifying and addressing any issues or challenges.
  • Collaborate with SCM, Strategic Purchase and Technology in HQ DK around demand planning, local sourcing and technical tasks.
  • Support the Sales Department in HQ Denmark with market information and insights.
  • Coordinate and cooperate closely with department heads in Denmark, ensuring effective communication and alignment on strategic initiatives. 
  • Optimize systems and processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
    Report to and engage in dialogue with the COO, both providing updates on operations, performance and challenges and developing the business.
  • Manage facility-related contracts and activities in coordination with HQ Denmark.

The position is full-time and refers to COO in FuelTech A/S.  

Professional qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in operations-/finance management or relevant business experience combined with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of senior-level management or director-level experience.
  • Proven experience of working within Korean/Asian culture.  
  • Financial insight and proven ability to achieve financial results.
  • Good knowledge of the maritime industry.
  • Negotiation-level English proficiency.
  • It is not a requirement, but the ideal candidate will have experience with equipment for alternative fuels under IGF and IGC codes, as well as knowledge of maritime classification societies.
