What does your day look like?
As Aftersales Engineer you are the human face between the customers and Alphatron Marine. As Aftersales Engineer you will visit new ships on delivery, check customer satisfaction and solve technical problems, if necessary. You will learn this from your colleagues on the job. You train customers in the use and maintenance of Alphatron systems. In addition, you answer technical questions from customers through the help desk.

You are part of the Customer Support department and work closely with other departments such as Service, Project Engineering, Training, Logistics and R&D. You are in regular contact with our subsidiaries, dealers and customers worldwide. The team consists of a Manager, 2 Aftersales Engineers, 2 Technical Support Engineers and 4 Warranty Controllers.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Clearly and correctly documenting work performed and parts used.
  • Repairing navigation and communication systems (warranty items) at shipyards or home ports, worldwide.
  • Supporting the technical help desk.
  • Handle technical warranty claims.

During your onboarding, you will quickly get acquainted with Alphatron’s way of working and their equipment portfolio.You will soon be working independently, but can always rely on colleagues for sparring when needed. In this role, you regularly travel to ships and yachts to carry out service and commissioning activities. Sometimes this means you are abroad for just a few days, while other projects may require you to be away for several weeks. When you are not traveling, you work from the office in Rotterdam, where you also share your expertise with colleagues. With your experience, you are able to handle complex jobs and take responsibility for delivering high-quality solutions to Alphatron’s clients worldwide.

Who are you?
You have knowledge of navigation and communication systems on board a ship. You pay attention to quality, are customer-oriented, proactive and think in solutions. You are technically strong and very willing to learn.

For this position we ask of you:

  • A completed MBO or HBO education in the field of electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of integrated bridge systems.
  • Clear communication in the English language at a professional level (Dutch is an advantage).
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, See Electrical and ERP systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to work globally in multicultural environments.
  • Flexible and willing to travel and work outside office hours.
