Marine Surveyor

Mission:
The job incumbent is responsible for conducting quality inspections of ships in service, ships under construction and marine equipment to determine their conformity with specified requirements - classification rules (Bureau Veritas, IACS), international and national regulations (e.g. IMO Conventions), and industry standards – or to attest a given situation of a ship.
Main responsibilities:
- Undertake class and statutory surveys and audits of ships in service in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
- Carry out inspections of marine equipment at manufacturers.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders and ensure that all survey/inspection reports – including survey certificates – are factual, objective and submitted within the stipulated format and time frame.
- Keep up to date with new rules, regulations and technical or process information, as disseminated through internal communication.
- Participate in meetings, both internal and external, as required.
- Attend scheduled trainings, locally and abroad, with a view to achieving specified delegations as agreed in the performance management process and development plan.
Education and Qualification Requirements:
- Degree in Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture/Mechanical Engineering or similar, with or without experience in the marine (shipping) industry.
- PC literate.
- Proficiency in English, Danish or other Scandinavian language(s) is an advantage.
- Available to travel on short notice and accept short assignments abroad, as required.
- Available to work outside normal business hours and occasionally on weekends.
- Working experience as:
- Field surveyor in classification society (IACS member),
- Certified watchkeeping officer at sea,
- Technical manager/superintendent in a ship management company,
- Ship newbuilding or repair project manager,
-ISO 9001 or 14001 auditor
is considered an advantage, but not explicitly required.
