Procurement Manager - commercial lead for the renewable industry

To support our continuous growth in the renewable industry, we are looking for a Procurement Manager to lead a step-change improvement of the procurement process in Swire Blue Ocean (SBO) covering all aspects of procurement. As a Procurement Manager in SBO you will be responsible for the day to day procurement support to the Marine Operations, Projects and Engineering departments.

Swire Blue Ocean is a global company within the renewable industry and part of the Swire Group. To support the continuous growth in demand for our services and to strengthen our procurement management, we are looking for a Procurement Manager with a passion for working with the offshore wind industry.

The main day-to-day duties will include:

  • Ensure improved and effective procurement process and system
  • Drive the development and implementation of the procurement process
  • Ensure timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of parts/materials/services to meet project and vessel order requirements at competitive pricing
  • Sourcing and assessing vendors for material supply
  • Develop, implement and oversee logistic plans for movement of spares and services for vessels during projects and modification/maintenance work
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders for any required clarifications on technical specification etc. before finalising and placing purchase orders
  • Support improvement of the current SBO warehouse setup and stock management

SBO is currently undergoing a transition from marine service provider to deliverer of more complex construction projects. The position as Procurement Manager provides an exciting opportunity to shape the future procurement process in a relatively small, but dynamically growing organisation within the offshore wind industry.

As the wind industry is rapidly growing and the complexity of projects and operations are increasing, SBO is continually optimising and modifying our industry leading Wind Installation Vessels. This requires a strong supply chain and continuous sourcing and assessing a variety of vendors within equipment supply, fabrication, installation and engineering services.

The position is based in our office in Copenhagen, Denmark and offers a great opportunity for a Procurement Manager interested in pursuing a career in an exciting growing company in the offshore wind industry.

Successful Candidate

As SBO is planning to implement a step-change improvement of the procurement process, an experienced Procurement Manager with +10 years of relevant experience within marine, offshore wind or oil & gas is preferred.

The successful candidate is a strong communicator with commercial experience, with a great pride in and passion for providing procurement support.

You have excellent stakeholder management skills and know how to network and communicate at all levels and with different cultures. You achieve great results through strong partnerships and an open mindset, always aiming at delivering high quality and stretched flexibility. A structured, analytical, and persistent approach characterizes your work style and ensures that you retain a good overview in negotiations and projects.

In addition, we expect that you to have:

  • A Master’s degree or similar relevant background
  • Financial and/or engineering background combined with 5+ years of international experience from a similar position in the renewable, marine or oil & gas industry
  • Experience with procurement or category management, contracting and negotiations
  • Strong commercial mindset
  • +10 years of purchasing experience from marine, offshore wind or oil & gas industry is preferred
  • Practical experience in development and implementation of effective procurement processes and systems
  • Previous managerial experience, or capability and capacity to develop into same
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate and negotiate commercial and technical matters effectively to audiences at all levels
  • English fluency, both written and spoken
