Your professional and personal qualifications

You must be a great communicator who is able to operate in a multicultural environment, working broadly with both internal and external stakeholders. Your flexible mindset enables you to see problems from different angles. You are also proactive - taking the lead on the continuous improvement of safety initiatives and championing our safety culture.

Proficiency in English is essential as it is our working language.

You have a background as master mariner, marine engineer or other relevant maritime or offshore education and preferably have experience working with people training and competency programmes.

Your new job

As MC Manager with Lauritzen Kosan you will report to the Head of People and Quality. You will undertake a central role working closely with our crewing manager, shipboard management and crew as well as your colleagues ashore. 

You will have responsibility for the continuous development of strategic goals for our external crewing manager. Your ability to work with them to manage and champion our framework of time-measured KPIs is the key to become successful in the job.  

Your assignments include:

  • Working closely with Marine HR, Marine QA and our onboard training team in order to raise the general safety level onboard our fleet  (supporting and championing our overall training strategy)
  • Monitoring the Competency Management system handled by the Crewing Manager, ensure requirements are as per business requirements (selected KPI's)
  • Providing support when external training partnerships must be selected - and ensures that they meet our needs through regular evaluation
  • Close engagement with continuous improvement and learning
  • Contributing to the update / development of procedures and policies within the People & Quality department when needed
  • Supporting knowledge-share and looking for new ways to reach our seafares.
  • Participating actively in the planning of crewing seminars
  • Travel activity of some 40 days per year is part of the job.
