DFDS' ferry business is bleeding

Competitors have poached customers from DFDS in a pressured Mediterranean market

178 million kroner. 

That’s how much DFDS’s ferry division lost on operating profit in the first quarter of 2025.

In total, the operating result amounts to a loss of 9 million kroner, compared to a profit of 169 million kroner in the first quarter of 2024.

DFDS itself attributes this to a significantly intensified competitive situation in the Mediterranean, which began in the autumn of 2024 and is still finding its level.
