Only one tank of jet fuel damaged in collision

Despite significant damage, it was actually only the contents of one out of 18 tanks on the Stena ship that were destroyed after the collision

The American logistics company Crowley has confirmed that only one of the Stena ship's 18 separate fuel tanks containing jet fuel was damaged when the Swedish-owned tanker collided with a cargo ship off the northeast coast of England.

This is reported by Reuters.

The tanker Stena Immaculate, with a capacity of 220,000 barrels of jet fuel, was anchored on March 10th off Humberside when it was struck by the smaller ship Solong.

According to initial estimates, nearly 18,000 barrels of jet fuel have been consumed by flames.

"Third-party salvage teams have confirmed that the damage is limited to one cargo tank containing Jet-A1 fuel and one ballast tank containing seawater," stated Crowley.

Crowley, which manages the tanker, has reported that no injuries have been reported as a result of the collision.

The relevant authorities have been notified, and an investigation into the incident is underway to determine the circumstances.

According to Crowley, emergency procedures have been implemented to minimize the risk of environmental pollution, and specialized teams have been dispatched to the scene.

The smaller cargo ship Solong, which was involved in the collision, has also sustained damage, but the extent has not yet been fully assessed.
