After contract chaos: New work for ex-Maersk ship

A difficult time for the Skandi Implementer in Mexico has been replaced by new, shorter contracts for the offshore service vessel, which was previously named Maersk Implementer

DOF Group ASA, which acquired most of Maersk Supply Service in July 2024, has won two contracts for the offshore service vessel Maersk Implementer, now Skandi Implementer, in the Gulf of Mexico.

This is stated by DOF Group in an announcement.

According to the shipping media Splash247, Skandi Implementer has had a turbulent existence since it changed its name from Maersk Implementer and transitioned to DOF Group earlier in the summer.

This happened when DOF Group ASA announced on July 3, 2024, the acquisition of the majority of Maersk Supply Service's fleet for $1.1 billion (7.86 billion DKK).

Skandi Implementer had originally secured steady work in the Gulf of Mexico until April 2026. However, due to customer payment defaults, DOF Group chose to withdraw the vessel from the agreement.

The financial details of the two new contracts have not been disclosed.

However, according to DOF Group, Skandi Implementer will be equipped with two of the company's new remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) by the end of the month.

Mons Aase, CEO of DOF Group ASA, is pleased to have quickly secured new work for Skandi Implementer after the recent contract termination.

- In addition to contributing to asset utilization and backlog, these contract awards represent another of our I-class vessels entering our subsea project business as part of our plan to add subsea service tasks as a focus for the DOF Denmark fleet (Maersk Supply Service fleet), says Mons Aase.
