Status of damages after deadly ship fire: - It is extensive

The repairs and the authorities' investigations will take a long time

- The damages are very extensive.

That's how Jens Meinhard Rasmussen describes it. He is the CEO of the Faroese shipping company Smyril Line Cargo, which owns the cargo ship 'Glyvursnes'.

On Thursday, January 2, he hurried from the Faroe Islands to Hirtshals.

A severe fire had broken out in the engine room of the cargo ship, and a 34-year-old crew member had perished. Another crew member—a 47-year-old man—had been flown to Rigshospitalet for treatment of serious injuries from the fire. It was later reported that his condition was stable.
