The Vice Chairman of the Climate Council, Niels Buus Kristensen, welcomes methanol-powered ships but also points out that the production of green methanol requires vast amounts of yet-to-be-existing electricity. In the short term, the shipping industry could potentially deplete the world's supply of green methanol

Niels Buus Kristensen is the Vice Chairman of the Climate Council which is Denmark's global climate minister Dan Jørgensen's (S) legislatively established climate initiative. Previously, Buus Kristensen served as the institute director at DTU Transport, and today, alongside his role in the Climate Council, he is a senior researcher at the Institute of Transport Economics in Norway.
